Trucking company J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said on Thursday that longtime CEO Kirk Thompson will step down at the end of this year, to be replaced by John N. Roberts III, the company's president of dedicated contract services.
Thompson has been CEO since 1987, and has worked for the company for 37 years. He will become chairman on Jan. 1. The company said its revenue has grown from $286 million when he took over as CEO to a projected $3.8 billion this year.
Roberts, 46, has been with the company 21 years. He was named a director effective immediately.
Chairman Wayne Garrison will remain a director after Thompson takes over as chairman, the company said.
