FedEx Custom Critical rolled out a new unit today, which, it said, will help shippers meet their truckload shipment needs.
Dubbed FedEx Truckload Brokerage, the new service provides shippers with full-service truckload brokerage service offerings, ranging from regular, dry-van freight to oversized pieces that need flatbed trailers, according to FedEx Custom Critical. And it added that additional resources can be deployed for shipments that need temperature control functionality.
A FedEx Custom Critical spokesman told Logistics Management that the company We began a "soft launch" in January to get FedEx Truckload Brokerage operations underway.
“We have spent the past few months building our staff to handle potential volumes from a market launch and to educate our fellow FedEx companies on the service offerings,” said the spokesman.
He added that the impetus for launching FedEx Truckload Brokerage was to continue building the portfolio of services for customers to ship their freight with a FedEx service offering. And he also pointed out that this business is completely separate from the expedited services offered at FedEx Custom Critical.
As for benefits shippers can expect from FedEx Truckload Brokerage, the spokesman said that reliability and customer service lead the list, as FedEx Truckload Brokerage manages the customer experience from the initial call to the delivery of the shipping invoice throughout the continental United States.
