Election Day ballots in two Lone Star State communities covered borrowing for transportation funding and freeing up sales tax revenue tied to transit.
Voters in the city of Austin cast ballots Nov. 2 on a $90 million transportation bond proposition.
A 56 percent victory for Proposition 1 authorizes the city to use most of the borrowed money for road, bike and rail projects. Road and street projects will get 57 percent of the funds. Alternative transportation projects, such as sidewalks and bike lanes, will get 43 percent.
The ballot did not list specific projects that would benefit from the bond program, but the majority of the projects are expected to be completed or under way within two years.
