Bloodied 70-year-old woman cuffed for having a brown lawn

OREM, Utah (AP) -- A 70-year-old woman arrested in a dispute over her brown lawn pleaded not guilty Tuesday, then stood by as a Los Angeles lawyer waved handcuffs for the cameras outside court.
Betty Perry is charged with resisting arrest and failing to maintain her landscaping, both misdemeanors.
She was arrested July 6 after failing to give her name to a police officer who visited her home.
During a struggle, Perry fell and injured her nose. She spent more than an hour in a holding cell before police released her.

It's not just there...from Michigan comes this little nugget....
Apparently a man named David Burch spent one weekend in jail and was threatened by a judge with another. Why? He can't get the grass to grow at his new home in White Cloud, Michigan. Burch says a contractor didn't sod the yard. He himself planted some grass seeds, but when they didn't grow, a judge jailed him for violating city ordinances requiring a green yard. He has now tried sodding the yard with donated turf.

Yeah, My "housing association" is a real pain, They try to tell everyone what to do, but the "Prez" of the dang thing never follows her own rules. Also never lets anyone vote on the rules. Just a pain.

That poor woman..... I couldn't even imagine what would happen had this been my grandma... She is a feisty woman and by the time it was all said and done would have more charges than a brown lawn.....

I'm only 7 yrs late with this reply but if "Green" is in I'd be doing "Life"...I turned my Lawn into a Nautical Theme consisting of Sand and Boulders planted with Coastal Shrubbery and Grasses...and on the other side of the central Pathway is an Area for the Grandchildren consisting of Playslides-Swings-Playhouse-etc' not a Green Blade of Grass in Sight...
