Clock ticking on border gridlock solution

The Windsor-Detroit border crossing is the gateway for almost a third of Canada-U.S. merchandise trade. Anything that impedes the efficiency and predictability of those shipments has a direct impact on Canadian competitiveness (since most of what we produce goes to the United States) and therefore on foreign direct investment.
There is broad agreement that one of the key problems in Windsor has to do with infrastructure, particularly the need for a second bridge to supplement the capacity currently provided by the privately owned Ambassador Bridge and a freeway link from Highway 401 to the new bridge.
