Trucking company executives are warning students at trucking schools throughout the nation to be aware of a scam presently active in the industry.
An executive who wished to remain anonymous said scammers are calling various trucking schools throughout the U.S. posing as recruiters for trucking companies.
He said they tell the schools that the company they “represent” has several openings for jobs paying $50,000 or more and that for $350, students can be placed in one of the openings.
The prospective driver is asked to send the $350 to an address in Las Vegas.
The FBI has been notified of the scam.
The executive said any prospective driver who is contacted about one of these “jobs” should notify the nearest FBI office.
