Fire marshals are seeking the cause of a fire that leveled a Flying J/Denny’s restaurant travel center in Indianapolis on Sunday.

Firefighters with the Wayne Township Fire Department battle flames at a Flying J off Interstate 465 in Indianapolis on Sunday. The fire did $2 million worth of damage to the truck stop, which is now closed indefinitely.
Authorities with the Wayne Township Fire Department said on Monday that the cause of the blaze remains undetermined, but the damages could be in excess of $2 million. Fire crews were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, to the truck stop just off Interstate 465 and 37 Highway in Indianapolis.
Truckers using the service facility first reported the flames to employees inside the Denny’s, where a manger and two employees were unable to successfully snuff the flames out with extinguishers, according to a news release from the fire department. Reports given by witnesses indicate that the fire started outside of the building and was pushed into the structure by high winds.
