Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has signed a bill into law that opens up more Idaho State Roads to heavy trucks.
A Pilot program that began in 2003 allows multi-trailer trucks with overweight permits to weigh as much as 129,000 pounds (standard weight limit being 103,000 pounds), on specified highways. This new law expands the total amount of traveled highways from 850 miles to 1200 miles.
The Pilot Program is set to expire in 2013 unless new legislature is passed in Idaho to renew it.
