MERCER, Pa. - A Mercer County trucking firm has agreed to pay a $30,000 fine because some of its aboveground oil storage tanks leaked, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources said.
An employee at Ergon Trucking Co. in East Lackawannock Township said Tuesday that he knew nothing of the violations, and that company officials might be able to comment in the future.
But DEP officials said the company has already agreed to pay the fine for violations involving three 37,800-gallong tanks that date to 1998.
The tanks were not properly registered for eight years and were not installed by certified contractors before they leaked, regulators said.
