Autonomous trucking company Aurora Innovation has appointed longtime Meta executive David Wehner to its board of directors, adding a technology and finance veteran to the leadership team as the company continues pushing toward large-scale deployment of driverless trucks.
The appointment became effective February 27, 2026, according to a company filing. Wehner joins Aurora’s board following the resignation of Claire Hughes Johnson, whose departure the company said was not related to any disagreement about operations, policies, or practices.
Prior to joining Meta, Wehner held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Zynga, the social gaming company known for titles such as FarmVille. Earlier in his career he worked at investment firm Allen & Company, where he served as a managing director.
He holds a master’s degree in applied physics from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Georgetown University.
Under Aurora’s standard compensation policy for outside directors, Wehner will receive $60,000 in annual cash compensation for his board service, along with eligibility for additional equity awards and committee-related compensation.
The company’s leadership includes CEO and co-founder Chris Urmson, a former leader of Google’s early self-driving vehicle program.
Aurora’s board already includes executives and technology leaders from transportation, logistics, and major technology firms. The addition of Wehner adds experience in corporate strategy, finance, and scaling large technology platforms as Aurora continues building its autonomous freight network.
Aurora has previously announced plans to expand its driverless trucking operations across freight corridors in the southern United States, positioning itself among the companies pushing toward autonomous long-haul trucking.
